Trail Camera On A Deer Carcass
Headed out to go deer hunting, we came across a fairly nice buck in the pasture. The deer had perished from unknown causes. Even though it hadn't been there the day before, we still didn't want to take a chance processing it for food because of that. So we decided to put a trail camera on it to see what it would draw in. We've combined the clips over the course of a bit more than a month or so it took for the remains to be scavenged. Everything from opossums and hawks, to bobcats and wild hogs took part in this interesting process. We used a GardePro trail camera. We've been very happy with the quality and trigger speed of these cameras as we use them to monitor our property and the wildli...

Deer Hunting, From Michael's Point Of View
Просмотров 22914 дней назад
This public land deer hunt was one we took a little while ago. Mike tagged a seven point buck using his bow with his camera rolling. But what makes this video interesting is that it happened on a trip to Maryland, and Michael was in a tree about 80 yards away. He had his camera rolling too, and got this great footage from his perspective! Join them in the woods, and be sure to use the links pro...
Herping The Yucatan

The Variable Coral Snake, a venomous snake native to Mexico and central America was one of the notable finds on this trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. While Michael had plans to do scuba diving with whale sharks on this trip, and enjoyed that very much, he used a bit of his downtime to indulge in another of his favorite activities, herping, and created this short video ofhis first herping trip of ...
A Herping Trip To India
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Месяц назад
The King Cobra was a target of this trip Chris took to do a bit of herping in India, and they were fortunate to get a look at a truly wild cobra that had invaded a bird cage looking for food. This was no snake charmers pet for sure. Neither was the spectacled cobra that his tour guides helped remove from a home to return to the wild. In India, these highly venomous snakes are often found invadi...
A Few Hunts On The Farm

Hunting deer on the new property wasn't quite what we expected this year. After an illness kept Mike and Dana sidelined for the start of November, they had little opportunity to hunt the best part of the season during the whitetail rut. But they had worked hard on the food plots, and were getting a lot of trail cam action on those. So Mike headed out to test his luck on a cold morning, in hopes...
Michael Tags Out !!!

Deer hunting the 2024 season has been good for Michael. He started the season with a spike buck for the freezer. He went back to hunt the same piece of public land during the whitetail rut and bagged a bruiser of an 8 point buck on his bonus tag. This meant he was restricted to a deer during the firearms or muzzleloader seasons, and he could only take one more antlered deer. Since the area he t...

We've been working hard on the property to put in food plots, trying to improve the habitat for deer, turkey, and other wildlife. After a few setbacks, and a nagging cough and cold, we finally shook it off and got out to hunt the rut! We had a very enjoyable time, and hope things will only keep getting better! #hunting #whitetail #deerhunting
We Found A Fishing Pier!
Просмотров 3163 месяца назад
Fishing in Tennessee has been a bit bumpy for us as we learn our way around. We've done well in some of the spots we've tried, struck out in others. But we were out and about the other day and spotted a pier as we drove along. You know we had to try fishing from this pier! Heading back with some bait the next afternoon, Mike managed to reel in some small panfish, that included yellow perch and ...

Scouting for deer is crucial for a successful hunt. This is even more true if you're hunting public land for deer. In this video, Michael heads into the woods on opening day of duck season on heavily hunted public land. Bu he was not looking to hunt ducks. He knew the duck hunters plowing noisily into the woods in their boots and heavy waders, not worried about scent control or wind direction, ...
Fishing Until Helene Came

We start this video with some fall fishing. We had planned to continue to a new location, since the trout stocking there was over, but hurricane Helene had other plans. While we were blessed that things were not damaged where we are at, just a few hours north and east of us is where the storm destroyed just about everything with flooding. Here, we just have to deal with the aftermath. The reser...
HERPING COLORADO

Colorado is one of the western states not well know for it's rattlesnakes. States like Texas and Arizona come to mind much more quickly when talking about these venomous snakes. But they are present. Matt and Siobhan enjoyed a recent herping trip there and located a beautiful Prairie Rattler. They also found a unique burrowing toad that glows under a blacklight, and several other interesting sp...

@@mcformica no, this is our place in Tennessee
@@SharingTheOutdoors Nice! Go Vols!
Dang, my milkshake, err, deer carcass brings all the boys to the yard.
I see making bacon as a video in the future. Imagine making venison sausage with deer and wild pig from the same back acreage. Very interesting video.
Thanks. We are definitely gonna take that hog out if we can. He's huge!
Iv put out a carcass after Ive got all the meat off and put a camera on it. Pretty wild you got a pig on camera
I would imagine you saved antlers, did you see any damage under there?
@@dannymcnally6211 the head has not decomposed to that point yet.
That caved in head wound is odd to me.. I showed it to my brother in law that is a Taxidermist and although very rare, he thought it could be from fighting. It is rare but the top skull plate can collapse under extreme conditions. He thought a car impact would have breached the skin much more.. Very strange though..
@@dannymcnally6211 I considered that as well. Thought a car impact would have flat out broken the antler off, and that a hard twist with antlers locked in fighting could have fractured the skull and caused that. I also know deer do fracture their skulls fighting, and will die slowly from the infected access that can cause. There was some blood on the mouth and tongue though, which I figured meant a harder hit than that though.
That’s what Jeffrey Dahmer said..😂
@@dannymcnally6211 😂😂😂
Great hunt.. Dana didn’t go to the backyard spot this year?

Cool footage from his view. Congratulations mike.

Nice job

@@SharingTheOutdoors very nice
The woods in Maryland is just as noisy as the woods in NJ. As far as hearing traffic and planes. Nice buck!!
@@bigbuck9984 Thanks! And yes it is! When we moved to Tennessee I had to learn how to be sneaky again. I was so used to having the planes and stuff cover my mistakes for me heading into stand in the morning

That's funny... Cold here, hunted last Sunday both am and pm it was around 1-6 degree lows with high around 14. Wind chills -6 to -14. I have to go retrieve my folding knife I left in woods my last kill first week of January...good time to look around.
@ I used to brave those conditions, but . I gave up hunting when my pee freezes in my jug in less than thirty minutes a number of years ago 🤣
@@SharingTheOutdoors I gave up peeing in a bottle Two or Three seasons ago. I do remember once it was so cold when I peed in a bottle I noticed it was warm, stuck it inside my coat to warm me and it worked. After I warmed up, I got the hell out of the woods.
Im hoping to start this weekend

There are some cases of CWD in Tennessee.. Was there any lightning storms around that time? Sounds bizzare, but deer get hit more than one would think.. I find it odd that there are lots of young bucks around and not many 2 year olds .. Thanks for the update..
@@dannymcnally6211 I know they have CWD out west, but not familiar with any cases where we are. No thunder either. No curating salt?
@@Alvergazoo plenty of salt in the seasonings. These sausages are fresh for grilling and frying and such. You wouldn’t cure these like you would a summer sausage or something like that. These need to be refrigerated or frozen until use
@SharingTheOutdoors Im watching videos on how to make sausage so alot of the videos I've watched mention pink curating salt to avoid getting bacteria when smoking them at low temperature.

Strange deal on that one buck. Wonder if it could've been a copperhead or timber? Not sure this late in the year though. Looks like this scouting will pay off. You've certainly put the work in.
@@smetlogik I’m clueless on that one. Not marks or obvious injuries, I didn’t do a necropsy but there was no blue tongue or other outward signs of EHD, a bit late in the year for that too anyways. My best guess would be a vehicle strike, but he was over a quarter of a mile from the nearest road and no obvious signs of road rash or broken bones either, ribs felt intact too
